How fluid-mediated rock transformations can mimic hydro-fracturing patterns in hydrothermal dolomite

چکیده

Numerous studies of hydrothermal dolomite bodies describe brecciated rocks characterized by dark angular fragments dolomicrite bounded together saddle crystals forming veins. Often associated with ore deposits, these breccia (HDB) patterns are usually interpreted as related to hydro-fracturing and so considered univocal markers fluid overpressure. In this contribution we report an occurrence typical HDB pattern in a dolomitized sedimentary Mesozoic hyper-extension located the Northern Pyrenees (France). We propose model that accounts for textural crystallographic HDB, without any The following observations lead us results from texturally controlled, fluid-initiated recrystallization initial grain boundary migration: (1) rough contacts between structure; (2) dolomite; (3) different size distribution texture (4) spatial oxide particles. Simulation of hydraulic fracturing of jointed rock

This paper presents a modeling approach for three-dimensional simulation of hydraulic fracturing of jointed rock. The base for a successful computer based simulation for productive use is the ability to calculate the fractured volume with sufficient accuracy and efficiency. Especially in cases three dimensional effects have to be taken into account, the common commercial software tools in oil a...

Tectonics, fracturing of rock, and erosion

[1] We argue that by fracturing rock, not by raising it relative to base level, tectonics plays its most important role in causing rapid incision of valleys and rapid erosion of hillslopes. Tectonic deformation riddles the upper crust with fractures, which not only provide avenues for water flow and thus promote weathering and further disintegration of rock but also fragment bedrock into debris...

Fluid-Leakoff Delineation in High-Permeability Fracturing

Starting from the original concept proposed by Carter, Howard and Fast, this paper reviews the description of fracturing fluid leakoff in view of modeling flow in porous media. It is shown how various linear leakoff models have been developed and why a new, radial leakoff concept is necessary for high-permeability fracturing, where the injection time is commensurable to the response time of the...

How can computers mimic human understanding of music

In the last 20 years, the use of computers in music has increased dramatically, to the extent where most commercial music production has an association with computers. As computers are used more and more to create the music we listen to, it is easy for their usage to become familiar and stagnant. However, today computers are powerful enough to not only be tools of human use, but also to create,...

Hydrothermal Fluid Flow and Mineral Alteration in a Fractured Rock under Multiphase

The geochemical evolution of hydrothermal fractured rock systems occurs through a complex interplay of multi-phase fluid and heat flow, and chemical transport processes. On the basis of previous work we present simulations of reactive hydrothermal flow that include (1) detailed fracture-matrix interaction for fluid, heat and chemical constituents, (2) gas phase participation in multiphase fluid...
